Scale Computing Expands Edge Infrastructure with AMD CPU Support for SC//HyperCore
Scale Computing has announced a major expansion of its edge computing and virtualization portfolio by introducing support for AMD EPYC and AMD Ryzen processors in its upcoming SC//HyperCore virtualization suite version 9.7. The announcement marks a deepening collaboration between the two companies. While Scale Computing’s SC//Reliant platform already leverages AMD architecture for retail environments, the integration into SC//HyperCore brings AMD’s processing power to the broader virtualization ecosystem, targeting modern distributed workloads and AI-enabled applications.
As organizations increasingly deploy data-intensive workloads closer to where data is generated, the demand for resilient, low-complexity infrastructure has surged. This shift impacts multiple industries including manufacturing, healthcare, retail, and quick-service restaurants that require localized processing for computer vision, real-time analytics, and automation. Early technical evaluations of the SC//HyperCore 9.7 release on AMD hardware have highlighted several key performance benefits, including consistent high-IO thread handling, enhanced power efficiency for known workloads, advanced EPYC memory throughput, and the potential to leverage embedded GPU capabilities within AMD Ryzen AI platforms for localized AI inferencing.
