Silicon Motion Technology Corporation has announced a comprehensive slate of new NAND flash controller innovations designed to address the demanding storage needs of Agentic Artificial Intelligence. Unveiled at the Future of Memory and Storage conference in Santa Clara, California, these solutions span data centers, edge computing, embedded devices, and autonomous physical systems. As artificial intelligence models evolve from initial training phases to real-time inference and agentic workflows, low latency and predictable data access have become critical infrastructure requirements.

To address high-capacity AI factory workloads, the company highlighted its SM8366 MonTitan SSD reference platform along with next-generation enterprise controllers. Built on a PCIe Gen5 architecture, the MonTitan platform supports capacities reaching up to 256TB when paired with QLC NAND. Its internal quality-of-service engine helps maintain low latency for key-value cache offloading. Furthermore, Silicon Motion previewed the SM8466 PCIe Gen6 controller, capable of delivering up to 28 GB/s sequential throughput to support data-intensive workloads exceeding 512TB capacities. For cost-optimized hyperscale deployments, the single-controller SM8388 enterprise platform offers high-density storage aimed at large-scale AI inference.

Data center security and boot requirements are addressed through specialized hardware as well. The SM8008 PCIe Gen5 controller complies with standard boot drive specifications, offering 14 GB/s performance while maintaining a power envelope under 5W. This low-power profile provides energy-efficient reliability across server racks, data processing units, and networking hardware.

In the personal computing and edge sectors, high bandwidth is paired with power efficiency to support on-device artificial intelligence. The SM2508 and DRAM-less SM2524XT PCIe Gen5 controllers reach read speeds of 14.5 GB/s, enabling quick retrieval for local inference tasks. For mobile and embedded platforms, the SM2755 UFS 4.1 controller targets high-bandwidth requirements in AI smartphones and wearable tech, while the SM2738 eMMC 5.1 controller brings reliable storage to smart home and industrial systems.

Finally, Silicon Motion showcased its Ferri product lineup tailored for physical AI and automotive environments. Engineered to meet strict automotive safety standards such as ISO 26262 and AEC-Q100, these embedded storage units target software-defined vehicles, robotics, and autonomous drones. By addressing storage bottlenecks from enterprise data centers down to edge devices, the company aims to power the next wave of agentic intelligent platforms.
